(…)Inbetween her bitching on her blackberry, she takes no look at the drink and says “…sugar free. I ordered it sugar free.” (ed. Note: umm bitch please, you DID NOT.)
It’s Sunday night and I’m in a great mood so I have no problem goinh through the whole “ohh I’m so sorry let me remake that really quickly for you” dance we sometimes have to do. While I’m pumping the final pump of sugar free vanilla into her new cup, I hear her on her phone “uh, moron messed up my drink.”

I really can’t respect people who disrespect employees.  It’s this sense of entitlement that enrages me.  They feel entitled to walk all over people because they’re “the customer”, and forget that if somebody calls them rotton names, it actually hurts.  They feel entiteld to receive respect that they don’t deserve.

I just plain hate people who feel entitled.  The world doesn’t owe you a favor, alright?  In the words of “Fight Club”… “You are not a beautiful and unique snowflake.  You are the same decaying organic matter as everyone else, and we are all part of the same compost pile.”

Some people need to learn to “get over it”.  If the barista at Starbucks “messes up” the drink that you ordered incorrectly, note it, fold it away at the back of your mind, and keep your yap shut while the drink is remade to your redefined request… don’t act like you’re special or inconvenienced.  You’re not special.  You’re just a customer, and there are hundreds of you.  Your dollar, while theoretically economically important, is a tiny drop in the bucket, and nobody would care if you never came back.

What I’m driving at here is a sense of “entitlement” that is totally arrogant and completely unjustified.  We’ve all been there, but it’s ugly.  Moral of the story?  Be nice to people and they will be nice to you.  At the very least, it’s good Karma.
