I have this dream of playing “Mario Kart” on my computer display.

Unfortunately, to make this dream a reality, I need a piece of kit that nobody makes anymore.  This elusive augmentation is a component AV connector for Gamecube, which was discontinued in 2004 when Nintendo realized that people don’t give a shit about HD compatibility for their Nintendo system.  I guess that’s OK… neither did I.

Times are different!  I have a 24” HD-Ready display, situated about two-feet from my eyeballs, begging to feed a high-definition rendition of “Metroid Prime” directly into my brain-bone. The best I could find are some used cables from sellers on Amazon who are asking $80 each.

Seriously?

The sad part is that I’m really tempted to buy one of these things.  The nerd in me has always wanted to be “one of those guys” who had both a computer and a game system feeding through the same display on their desk. Is that so wrong?
