l’abri Sadi - Carnot

One of many tunnels that run beneath the city of Brest - this one served refuge for German Soldiers and Breton Civilians alike. Unfortunately in 1944 some German artillery which was being stored caught fire, a huge explosion followed. Hundreds of Breton civilians stormed the doors of the tunnel but in panic couldn’t get out. Around 400 died. The tunnel was made into a museum and memorial which you can visit on the first Sunday of every month.

I’m pissed.
